- Located 13,000 kilometres from the French mainland, in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the Kerguelen archipelago is home to a maritime nature reserve that has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2019. On land, thousands of elephant seals spend their days basking in the sun. The seabed, which has remained untouched, is teeming with rare fish. Hundreds, perhaps even thousands of organisms, have yet to be logged. FRANCE 24 takes you to discover this unique ecosystem.

It sure is magnificent.
Anyone else got here after this island showed up in Worldle?
🙋♂️😂
This reminds me of the more desolate and rocky parts of welsh coast, looks amazing
Cute elephant seals
Thanks for the tip Worldle!
Great archipelago ...
greetings from Limberwisk!
dream island
Lovely❤️
they were using DRY SUITS not WET SUITS
wtf that means
@@ommsterlitz1805 dry suit like the name suggests keeps you dry by placing a thin layer of air between you and suit( they are used in cold waters) and wet suit lets water flow under the suit
and i know this becouse they have an air regulator on the middle of their chest
@@Pizza_Pepperoni0 wow i didn't knew such thing exist it's like a spacesuit in a way thx for being so quick answering I'm fascinated by Kerguelen island recently, it have so much potential a shame no human settlements are allowed.
Amazing!
4:00 this creature is very interesting. Its like if a sea anemone evolved to swim, though it's probably actually a sea slug
Thanks you make beautiful video 👍👍👍
Ничего не понял, но очень интересно
Nick Mercs brought me here 😂
Any oil there?
questions.................... I heard that the island`s food is mostly imported canned or frozen>> why don`t they have hydroponic produce farmed? ............. how do they handle / deal with their sewage? {if the tundra is frozen, it must be difficult to have outhouses with holes in the ground for waste; and they wouldn`t want to harm the wildlife by dumping their waste into the ocean}
Worldle of the day!
Wonderful.scope for research.
Who came here after finding it on Google Earth
Can tourist go?
No street view on google maps
I wanna buy this place, what it's cost
20 billion dollars
please give me 100 dollers please
Step 1: Buy the islands
Step 2: Find oil
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit
Is anyone allowed to visit the island who isn't a scientist?
Probably not or extremely difficult
Pleaseeee just do subtitles
*They can't for the visually impaired*
@@florimond. what about for the hearing impaired? The reason that they do a voice over is because they think people won’t want to watch something with subtitles
What about the transgender community on the island? How is it represented?
ask the sea lions how they taste
I looked a ventusky seems like crazy winds and waves around that island!!!
Great that the French sciencetists doing important research! Its crazy to think about that we live in a world where we still have not discovered or know everything on the planet we live on,but yet we claim to know about a ultimate god and all that, but we obviously dont know everything yet,be humble and accept that we dont know thats the way to go ! Extreme religious people who are agressive are a obstacle for further research about reality. We truly dont know whats out there and around us in total so we should appreciate reality as a great mystery and thats all
That's probably the most remote place on earth besides central Antarctica
Sweeeeettt
atlas pro brought me here
Uninhabited except for some scientists?
Looks like its time to start America2
They should open an artist community there. It looks too desolate.
Too bad its in the middle of nowhere, with a support for a popualtion of 100 and no flights going there. The hottest it gets is 4 degrees.
@Jacob Fenrir there's no major advantage of creating a bigger community than it is today ...
@@Lemonadee771 Nah average temperatures are higher than Iceland at least 17 degrees max
Gahr ana hai ravish kumar sunna hai
Me!!! Lol
You weren't as cold as a woman. Enjoy the rotors.
Why its France territory?? 🤷♂️ its nowhere near france.
Because a French navigator was the first human to arrive there, in 1772. They claimed the island from there. There were no humans.
@@mgtnlouis4940 oww, thanks for the information.
@@psychopeoples4384 there are a lot of other french territories around the world, Google them.
False claim it was first discovered by turkish pirates Guzguz
Not much diversity here. Not a portrait of modern France
When is your INDIA going to demonstrate how DIVERSE it is ??? Or do no Europeans or Orientals or Africans want to move there...........
Belongs to France hahaha. It shall revert to Africa one day.
ooga booga
You are funny.
This is France 🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵
😍 it
great!
